From the OR to the Rink
Hosted each year in a different Ontario community, Docs on Ice brings together physicians from across the medical spectrum—surgeons, family physicians (GPs), pediatricians, anesthesiologists, emergency physicians, internists, and medical learners—uniting them through a shared love of hockey and a shared purpose beyond the rink. The tournament is physician-led and powered by a remarkable network of local volunteers who work behind the scenes to deliver an unforgettable weekend while maximizing its impact on the host community.
giving back

At its heart, Docs on Ice is about giving back. The tournament raises vital funds and awareness for local charities and community causes in the host region, with proceeds directed to organizations that support health, families, and community wellbeing. Beneficiaries often include hospital foundations and other frontline programs, selected by the host city to reflect local needs. Funds are generated through team registrations, sponsorships, donations, and special events—brought to life by volunteers who support everything from logistics and hospitality to on-site fundraising initiatives such as raffles, auctions, and community activations.
Beyond the charitable impact, Docs on Ice delivers meaningful economic and social benefits to each host community, generating increased activity in hotels, restaurants, and local attractions throughout the tournament weekend. To date, Docs on Ice has raised several million dollars for charitable organizations across Canada—proving that when physicians lace up their skates, one weekend of hockey can create lasting change far beyond the ice.
